Why We Are Here
The Education Alternative is designed for parents who want their child to grow through a non-traditional educational approach. We understand that public school is not always the best educational solution for some students. We offer a comfortable, safe microschool environment that works closely with students to meet their educational needs while nurturing their gifts. We understand the sometimes students need more hands-on, one-on-one learning. This is why we are here. We want parents to have a choice...to make the best choice for their child.
Our Secret - Microschool
Partnered with Fireside Learning Academy, we are dedicated to enriching young minds, The Educational Alternative aims to provide a holistic educational experience for children aged 5-12. Our innovative teaching methods and engaging resources are designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and ensure a solid foundation for lifelong learning. We use hands-on methods to solidify learning, making it more concrete and easier for students to understand and master. We love to use manipulatives to reinforce ideas in order to help students grasp understanding. This way we can make learning fun and instill the love of learning while catering to the needs of students in a more wholistic way.
About Microschool
What Microschool is like...
Microschool is a small, more individualized school setting. Students get more attention from an individualized academic program specifically designed to meet their educational needs. We cater to the whole child and strive to make EVERY student a stellar student in their own right. Classes are small, so students get the attention they need to help them be successful. They also get the advantage of working at their own pace while still accomplishing their academic goals. Parents can rest assured their child is learning in a safe, nurturing environment. A sample weekly schedule is posted, so you can get an idea of typical school day. Students also get the advantage of having before and after care which is a plus to working parents.

About
My name is Tara Pierre Williams
​​*I have been teaching and tutoring for more than 20 years. My experience in private, public, and charter schools has helped me understand that cookie-cutter learning does not work for all students. I opened my tutoring center in January of 2023 in Luling, after recognizing the need for a center to help students in the area. I have also realize that microschool meets the need for parents to give their child a safe, inviting environment where children can thrive and enjoy learning once again. In offering a microschool, parents can have an educational alternative to help their students with smaller class size and more attention to helping them academically. My reward is helping them build the confidence they need to be successful academically as well as seeing those smiling faces when a small victory occurs.
About Tutoring
At our tutoring center, we provide high-quality educational support that gives students a distinct advantage in their learning journey. We cater to students with learning disabilities, including stress and anxiety, dyslexia, and ADHD, ensuring that every individual feels understood and supported. Our dedicated employs a variety of resources and strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student, fostering a positive and effective learning environment. Together, we empower students to achieve their full potential.

Diagnostic Testing
​We give you a comprehensive reading and math diagnostic test to gauge exactly where your child is academically. After presenting the findings to you, we work with you to find the best alternative for your child to gain the knowledge and skills they need to meet academic goals.
Microschool
​We create an Individual Academic Plan with rigorous but realistic goals for your child to meet in their daily, weekly, and monthly studies. We also inform you each step of the way of their weaknesses, strengths and progress along the way. Communication is key to keeping students responsible and accountable for their own success and we celebrate all victories, big & small.
Tutoring
We offer specialized tutoring for students who need just a little more help in achieving their goals. We allow them to get specialized tutoring, whether it is intervention or advancement. We allow the students to be whom they need to be in order to succeed. We want our students to maximize learning opportunities.
